Some of the best moments in life are the unplanned ones. Just recently, I received a call from Rosa, a friend and client I’ve worked with in fashion shoots before. She had a unique request: she needed a photographer at the last minute because her friend, Cristian, had planned to propose to Valeria, his girlfriend, but their photographer had canceled. Without hesitation, I agreed, eager to help capture this special moment. As soon as I learned more about the plan—a proposal at Vizcaya Gardens—I knew it would be a memorable day.

Vizcaya Gardens is one of Miami’s most romantic locations. With its historic Italian-inspired architecture, lush landscapes, and views of Biscayne Bay, it’s a place where every path and fountain feels like a scene from a fairy tale. It was an ideal setting for Cristian’s surprise proposal to Valeria.
Rosa, who organized this beautiful surprise, invited Valeria to join her as a guest at a fashion event hosted by Istituto Marangoni Miami at Vizcaya. Meanwhile, Cristian was already there, waiting for their arrival with plans to propose amidst the garden’s elegance. Walking into Vizcaya felt like entering a dreamscape, with sun-dappled pathways, grand staircases, and tranquil water features providing a stunning backdrop for such a meaningful moment.
The Last-Minute Call and the Perfect Surprise
When Rosa reached out, I immediately felt the excitement of being a part of this unexpected love story. Valeria arrived at Vizcaya with Rosa, believing she was simply there for an evening of fashion and fun. Rosa led Valeria to a secluded spot by a fountain, surrounded by Vizcaya’s lush greenery where Christian was waiting. With anticipation filling the air, he got down on one knee, and in that instant, the world seemed to stop.
